Celebrating Mandela Day: EPCSA Giyani West Parish's Heartwarming Visit to Mashengani Primary School

On Friday, 19 July 2024, the EPCSA Giyani West Parish embraced the spirit of giving by celebrating Mandela Day with a heartfelt initiative at Mashengani Primary School in Xikukwani Village, located in the north of Giyani. This year, the Parish dedicated their 67 minutes of community service—a tribute to Nelson Mandela's 67 years of fighting for social justice—by donating 30 pairs of shoes to deserving pupils at the school.

The event was a significant display of unity and compassion, with representatives from various structures within the Parish coming together to support the cause. Reverend B Mapiyeye and Joffrou Mapiyeye led the initiative, symbolizing the leadership's active involvement in community upliftment. They were accompanied by members of the Parish Executive, Vamanana, Madodana, Blue Cross, Vanhwana, Youth, and the affiliated NPO.

This act of kindness not only provided essential footwear to children in need but also underscored the importance of community support and solidarity. It reflected the broader values of Mandela Day, which encourages people to take action and inspire change.

The Parish's gesture was warmly received by the school community, bringing joy and relief to the students who benefited. Such initiatives highlight the ongoing need for community involvement in addressing social challenges and improving the lives of those less fortunate.

Mandela Day serves as a powerful reminder of the impact that collective action and generosity can have. The EPCSA Giyani West Parish's contribution is a testament to the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela's values of compassion, service, and social justice. As they continue their mission of helping those in need, their efforts inspire others to contribute to building a better and more caring society.
